Irene Zuniga grew up in East Bakersfield. Irene comes from a family of farm workers who grew corn, papaya, tomatoes, watermelon and guayabas in Michoacán, Mexico. Her parents (Rodolfo and Hilda Zuniga) migrated from Michoacán to the United States in the 80s in search for a better life. Irene is the oldest of three girls. Although her parents couldn’t help or guide her throughout her education they gave her all the love and support she needed and pushed her to pursue a college degree. Irene worked full time in the banking industry to help pay her college education. She graduated from California State University of Bakersfield with a B.S. in Business Administration and Concentration in Human Resource Management. She is a Human Resource Generalist at Sunview Vineyards of California, Inc., a family owned and family operated farming company in the Central Valley. She is passionate about working with farm workers and walking through the vineyards. Irene enjoys being involved in her community and helping young people who share a similar background. She is a youth mentor for Latina Leaders of Kern County and enjoys giving back to her community. On her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and exploring nature, she’s a regular moviegoer, is in love with alpacas, likes country and the Dallas Cowboys!
